The window behind Elaine’s armchair offered outstanding views of Lake Michigan, Chicago’s Outer Drive, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, and Field Museum. Sheer curtains softened the sunlight that streamed into the room. When interviewed later in life, Elaine Wormser Reis recollected that the window sheers were blue and green and that silver Venetian blinds offered another layer of light control. Curtain ties with decorative tassels made from green, blue, gold, and black threads that remained from the room informed the colors selected for these reproduction sheers.
