The collaged geometric decoration of this box, in gold, silver and black, corresponds to the foundational palette of the room and the rhythmic combination of rigid lines and organic curves in its design. Seated on a standing black wooden shelf, the box was, as Elaine later recalled, for the storage of etchings and drawings. Elaine’s father Leo was a serious collector of works on paper. Yet, it is unknown what types of etching and drawings Elaine held. Although the box and shelf do not appear in period photographs of the room, Elaine remembered it as part of the interior.
